Camp Cate Recap and Pictures!

On June 6-8, Camp Cate welcomed more than 400 faculty, alumni, and families back to the Mesa to celebrate reunion years ending in 3 and 8. The weekend began on Friday with and early morning alumni surf at Rincon, followed by the Alumni Golf Tournament at the Montecito Country Club. Later that evening, alumni celebrated their reunions on Commencement Lawn at a Mexican Fiesta, where Headmaster Ben Williams awarded the 2008 Distinguished Alumnus Award to Burton Smith '58, and reunion classes were celebrated for raising almost $2,750,000 in annual, capital, and endowment giving for Cate School.

The annual Mesa Race set Saturday in motion, followed by the annual meeting of the Alumni Council. Saturday afternoon featured a lunch on Senior Lawn, framed by a picture-perfect Carpinteria day. Alumni from all classes provided music in the alumni jam session, and the Class of '88 kept the energy high by hosting the Kid's Olympics with relay races and face painting for all.

While the members of SBS and the Class of '58 enjoyed a reception with the Headmaster at Mesa House on Saturday evening, all other alumni headed to the Tennis Center for lively class reunion dinners. The party continued well into the night and not only did alumni have the chance to reconnect with each other, they also had a chance to demonstrate dance moves not seen on the Mesa since their respective proms!
